Psychology Major Requirements
The Psychology major is just part of what you'll need to graduate from UIUC. General Education courses and electives (courses you take for fun, to develop a skill, or for requisite pre-professional courses) will make up your entire UIUC academic experience.
In order to graduate with a Psychology major, 32 hours* of Psychology coursework (coursework with "PSYC" rubric) is required.
*New freshmen matriculating (beginning) Fall 2012 will be required to complete a minimum 33 hours of Psychology coursework.

Complete at least 12 hours of 300- or 400-level Psychology courses. All research methods/lab courses listed above will count toward this requirement. Consult the Course Catalog to view possible advanced courses.
VII) Supporting CoursE work
Nearly 1/3 of your LAS degree will consist of electives. How will you use those hours? That's what supporting course work is - 12 hours of work outside psychology that will complement the core program. The coursework will need to be approved through consultation with a Psychology advisor but you will the one to decide what your supporting course work will be. Supporting course work could be (but not limited to):
- a declared minor
- a second major
- pre-law interest
- pre-health courses
- specific graduate school preparation
