Biography
Juan (he/him) is a proud union member and 6th year Ph.D. candidate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Juan currently works as Analytics Support at the Organizational Insights (OI) Team for Enterprise Research (ER) department at State Farm Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington, IL.
Research Interests
Juan's research interests are broad and not limited to:
- Computational approaches to psychological research (e.g., Big Data, machine learning, neural networks, natural language processing, social signal processing, simulations)
- Technological implications for the workplace, electronic monitoring, social media assessment, virtual teams, ergonomics and human factors.
- Individual differences; Job analysis, selection, assessment, placement, and retention
- Psychometrics, item response theory, and measurement invariance

Research Description
Juan's research under advisor Fritz Drasgow focuses broadly on developing psychological measurements that are suitable for the workplace, employing non-traditional of assessment methods to facilitate personnel selection and retention.
