Research Description
Currently I'm looking into the debate about what role the hippocampus plays in cognition. Our lab believes that the hippocampus is necessary for binding together arbitrary items (like names and faces) in memory - relational memory. Other people believe that it is responsible for detecting and responding to novel events. I am investigating some of the claims that the 'novelty people' make. I'm also interested in the overlap between relational, source, and context memory, and the contribution of non-medial temporal lobe regions (namely prefrontal and parietal cortex) to memory.
